Figures 6-2 and 6-3 show a simple example of the layers you need to load into Photoshop in order to create a composite with the layers in Figure 6-2.

One layer is a pattern that is used as a layer background. The other layer adds a bunch of pictures.

Here are the steps you need to use to create a simple composite in Photoshop:

1. Create a new file by using the Photoshop interface, as shown in Figure 6-2.

You could just as easily create this image by opening a jpeg file and putting a background layer on top of the image, but that is extremely time consuming.

The step in Figure 6-2 creates the background layer that has the dark square pattern. In Figure 6-3, I have two layers in the same document, one of which has the picture.

2. Create the rectangular background pattern by using a pattern image.

Open the Pattern menu (choose the Pattern command) and click the Background tab. Click the Add New File button. Open the file that you want to use as the background and select the rectangular pattern, as shown in Figure 6-2. Press the OK button.

3. Add a layer with a picture.

Open the Layer menu and choose Layer. Open the folder that has the picture you want to use. Click the Image Bin tab and then click the New Layer button. You can also add a layer by pressing Ctrl+N (Win) or Shift+Ctrl+N (Mac).

In Figure 6-2, I have three layers in the same document. The top layer is the pattern. The middle layer is the one with the image. The bottom layer is the mask. The mask (shown in the figure in Figure 6-4) is for the picture, and it hides the picture from being visible in the layer above. The top layer lets you see the photo through the pattern layer, as shown in Figure 6-3.

4. Create a new layer below the picture layer and move the picture to it.

Choose Layer⇒New Layer. Type a new name for the new layer in the New Layer dialog box. I suggest using the two names Picture and Pattern. You may need to do a Find and Replace in the dialog box to change the name of the layer.

There are several different ways to edit the photo of your pet. In this post, we’ll use the simple Photoshop method.

Step 1. Open the photo in Photoshop Elements.

Step 2. Click on FILE, select Open and click on the picture.

Step 3. Upload the photo to the desktop to a new Photoshop document.

Step 4. Select the brush tool and click on the image to paint on the photo.

Step 5. Create a new layer. This is the new background for your image.

Step 6. Using the same brush tool, paint the background of your image.

Step 7. Go back to the brush tool, select the Spot Healing Brush option and click on the photo to select the areas that you want to repair.

Step 8. Delete the brush marks.

Step 9. Click OK to apply the spot healing brush.

Step 10. Zoom in with the Zoom tool. Click it to zoom in and out.

Step 11. Fill the outline of the license plate of the car with the Brush Tool. Using the mouse, click anywhere on the license plate and drag out the new outline.

Step 12. Select the rectangle tool and draw the new license plate.

Step 13. Press Ctrl + T to transform the rectangle into a shape.

Step 14. Delete the square by pressing Delete.

Step 15. Select the Eraser tool and click on the shape to erase the black rectangle.

Step 16. Add the red dotted line that divides the original license plate from the new one. Using the Line Tool, create a rectangle that is 2 pixels thick.

Step 17. Make sure the dotted rectangle is on the top layer. Select the rectangle tool and draw the dotted line.

Step 18. Click OK to apply the new dotted line on the top layer.

Step 19. Click on the Add Layer Mask icon. Using the Eraser tool, erase the section that covers the original license plate.

Step 20. Click OK to apply the Layer Mask.

Step 21. Select the Rectangle Tool (R) and select the dotted line to remove the dotted line that covers the original license plate.

It was a broken day for Paddy McCall.

The defender’s career got off to an inauspicious start with the St Johnstone club, who he joined from Dundee United as a teenager in 2011.

“You see so many talented kids coming through the system and you see where those players go and it’s hard not to be envious.

“I think there’s a lot of talent in Scotland and you see some of the European boys coming down here to Scotland but you’ve got to think about doing it right.

“I’ve got a great group of boys around me who have encouraged me, but I’ve certainly got a lot to learn.

“I’m not a guy who thinks he knows everything but when you’re learning the best thing is to share your knowledge, so that’s what I’m doing.

Lymphocytic TNF-alpha secretion was markedly downregulated by glucocorticoids, but this effect of the corticosteroids was independent of and additive to their known inhibitory effect on mitogen-induced T-cell proliferation. Interestingly, the steroid was also found to inhibit TNF-alpha secretion by peritoneal macrophages, but this effect could not be attributed to alterations in macrophage viability.
