Before Photoshop, this looked like a lot of work. With Photoshop, all you have to do is select the part you want to change or create a duplicate of, and edit it.

Step 1: Open an Image

Select the original image you wish to edit. Place it in your open Photoshop document.

Step 2: Open the Brush Tool

The Brush tool is found in the Tools toolbox. Click on the Brush tool.

Step 3: Select a New Brush

As you can see, the Brush tool is different than the Pen tool. It is also used for softer, more blended changes.

Step 4: Create a New Brush

Select a brush and click OK to open the Brush dialog box. You’ll see options such as the brush settings. The Brush picker is also active while you’re creating your brush, so you can choose a different brush if you’d like.

Step 5: Select a Brush

Select a brush and then click OK to bring up the Brush dialog box.

Adjust the settings as you like. I found that the Settings are an excellent place to start.

Step 7: Apply the Brush

Choose the Tool Options palette and click the Brush Preset button to apply the brush.

Step 8: Adjust the Brush in Photoshop

You can now adjust the brush settings in the Brush dialog box. If you want to change the color or size of the brush, for example, simply increase or decrease the values next to the dials on the Brush dialog box.

Step 9: Use the Brush Tool

Use the Brush tool by clicking where you want to paint. The Brush tool is also perfect for adding small bits of color and texture over your image.

Step 10: Create a New Brush

This is an easy way to create more brushes. Just click the Brush Settings button and click New Brush.

I have a RGB vector image which I would like to to continuously space, so the colours are not per pixel.

You could do this easily with Select > Color Range > New.

Select the relevant area of your image.
Set the way the “new” colours are generated from Selection

Here, I have the brush tool set to Watercolor (watercolor), but this would be the default (there are a few different styles of brushes that set the way in which they can be used, from paint to airbrush to watercolor to chalk, etc)
Make sure to change the way you select the colours, so you get the range of new colours you want:

Some time ago I was browsing on an American website (run by a company I’d never heard of) and stumbled across a video advertising a company called Yellow Dog Shelters (YDS). If I have two workflows, will I have two different indexes? Or two different facets?

Your question is pretty broad, so all I can answer is one of your question “how to setup the workflows if several handlers are needed” and suggest way of working with multiple workflows.
First you have to understand that ES workflows are not stored in the index itself. ES stores the workflow data in an additional column called xPack \_workflow as a JSON serialized string. So one workflow can be only handled by one ES instance. You may store multiple workflows in one xPack, but the order is not important, ES doesn’t care about it.

When you design your index, you can use both dynamic templates or not dynamic templates. When you use dynamic templates you define the template when you create the index and ES automatically applies it when some of your documents contain “xPack \_workflow” as a field. The default template of ES does not contain many ifs and nested ifs, so you can probably achieve your design with just one dynamic template. If you need to ensure that you work with your own workflows, you may need to write your own template, as I described in this article.
So the workflow design choice can be simple: just use dynamic templates and you’ll have two workflows in one index. Or you can use one dynamic template and write your own ifs and nested ifs to do more complex stuff.
