Differences from AutoCAD 2017
AutoCAD 2017 is for use with Windows and macOS. It has a similar User Interface (UI) to AutoCAD R14, with the addition of 3D objects. It does not contain the FileGDB and Engineering Graphics files. The 2017 application contains AutoCAD LT as well. AutoCAD 2016 was for use on Windows only.

Carnegie Mellon University will not permit a controversial professor to bring a course on the humanities to campus in the fall after the university chancellor warned that he was operating outside academic freedom.

Professor Martin Marty’s Modernity and the Mass Media, an upper-level course on the social sciences, will now be offered at a nearby campus. Students who want the class must use a private online course.

The university has imposed sanctions on the course, including preventing the professor from speaking at the university and requiring him to give a public apology to students in the course. The university will also review Marty’s curriculum to make sure it conforms with Carnegie Mellon’s academic policies and honor the university’s commitment to academic freedom.

“Carnegie Mellon has a history of supporting freedom of expression, and its commitment to academic freedom extends to the professor teaching courses in the humanities,” said Gary S. Mayerson, dean of the college of arts and sciences. “However, we also recognize the right of students to study in the manner that they prefer and that academic freedom is not absolute.”

The decision was made in conjunction with the university’s faculty senate, which was asked to review the course last week by Chancellor Rebecca Blank. The review was prompted by faculty complaints that Marty’s course was a thinly veiled advertisement for his controversial views on the role of the media and the military in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, among other issues.

Marty has been a frequent speaker at conservative-leaning conferences and was a vocal critic of the university’s political diversity committee, the Coalition Against Anti-Semitism.

More than 100 faculty members signed a petition requesting that the course be taken off campus, and last year Marty complained to The Washington Post that he was the victim of a “witch hunt” and being censored by the university.

In addition to barring Marty from campus, Blank on Friday threatened to revoke his tenure at the university if he continued to teach the course.
