their app out, they can put their app live even if they don’t have any
facebook fans. I’m thinking of the app that allows users to leave your
business a voice mail with a code to get a discount. Why wouldn’t they wait

Using gcc-based compiler for software running on Linux without GUI?

I’m writing a simple C application in a project on which I’m supposed to compile using a C++ compiler. This project doesn’t have a graphical user interface (but I know C).
I have downloaded gcc-based compilers such as MinGW and Dev-C++ and would like to know what they are actually used for in my project.
My first thought was to use them to compile a Makefile, but I’ve read that you cannot use MinGW for compilation (you have to use cygwin to compile). I did some searching and found out that Dev-C++ actually uses MinGW as its default compiler. So my question is: Is Dev-C++ actually using MinGW or is it using Cygwin by default?

This is obviously not true:

Dev-C++ 9.5.3 is built with GNU C compiler.

It is a little hard to believe that Dev-C++ would pretend to be a Windows version of Dev-C++ when the statement above seems to contradict it. I don’t have access to the MinGW source code, but it seems to me that it would be rather odd if the developer chose such a misleading statement.
However, it is entirely possible that Dev-C++ copies the source of the MinGW compiler on the fly when starting a new project. I’m not saying that that is what it is doing, but I cannot rule it out as a possibility.
If it’s the case that Dev-C++ behaves that way, you need to realize that you cannot use it as a Windows version of Dev-C++, as it uses the MinGW compiler as its default.
