The album was officially supported by the singles: “Bygones” at radio, “Hooked On This”, “Lookin’ for You,” and “Somebody” in the following months.[25] The album was well received by some critics, who praised R&B group’s return to PGH.[26] This is also the only album in the group’s career that features an opening song, rather than several guitar-based intro songs, as well as the last-ever DreamWorks recording from an R&B group.[5] It was also the first album released by R&B group Blackstreet with worldwide distribution.

After the release of Level II, Dave Hollister departed the group, and was replaced by frontman Tariq “Black” Israel for their album, Then Came U. Meanwhile, Mark Middleton released his first solo album called The Mark Middleton Band, which was also executive produced by Riley, and featured three songs from Level II: “Lookin’ for You”, “Hooked On This” and “Somebody”. He also served as the lead singer on two more songs: “Good Lovin'” and “Look Into The Water”.

In 2006, a final installment of their three-part dream suite was released during their sixth and final studio album, Level III: The Finale. It featured songs from the different parts of the album: “Leave Me Alone”, “Oh Lord” and “The Way You Love Me” were from Level II, while “What You Are” and “No Erasin” were from Level I, and “Who Do U Love” was off of Then Came U. The latter two songs were produced by LaShawn Daniels and Babyface respectively. It is their only album that releases without the expletive. It was also the last album released on Interscope Records, and was released on their own Blackstreet Music Group.

In 2010, R&B group Blackstreet released their independent debut album, Again with distribution through the Universal Motown label. The album features the singles “Oh Lord” and “Bad Day” in promotion.
