Hide Chat on Join is a plugin that adds an extra option to the right click context menu when users right click a channel and hit options, this new option only appears when a channel is added to the buddy list. Once users choose the option it adds to the context menu and make sure it is enabled, users can then select the option to add a channel to the buddy list whenever they like, and this includes adding a channel to the buddy list before the new option is added. Once users choose the option the extra context menu option is added, which then enables users to only have one window open with the selected channel open to them without having to have multiple chat windows open.
Installation and Setup
Hide Chat on Join can be installed and set up like a normal plugin, as long as users make sure they install it first.
The installation of the plugin itself is easy, and most users will not have any issues installing it in the first place, all they need to do is go to their plugins folder and open the directory called “hide-chat-on-join-1.0.0.xpi”, extract that zip file and then move the file into the plugins folder, most users should then be able to enjoy Hide Chat on Join without any issues.
Hide Chat on Join Configuration
The configuration process is easy for users to follow, all users need to do is right click a channel and press “options”, after that the extra option is added to the context menu, which then allows users to choose Hide Chat on Join.
This is the only option that users have access to as part of the plugin, but there are several other options available in other plugins.
Once users choose the option it adds the extra option to the context menu, which then enables the user to have one window open to the selected channel, so a user can only have one window open with the selected channel open. However, the user can close that window if they wish to view different chats, and then open a second window with the same channel open.
When users only have one window open with the selected channel open to them, Pidgin will only add one Pidgin icon to the indicator menu, and users can then click the icon to view the open chat window. However, if there are multiple open windows with a channel open to the user, the indicator menu will show the icon twice, and Pidgin will open two windows simultaneously with the same channel open.
