How many bits are used for a file system sector?

I am converting from FAT32 to Btrfs and am wondering how many bits are used in Btrfs (by sector, not byte) and how to calculate how many bits are used in a FAT32 sector (4 bytes).

A:

Generally, a single FAT sector is mapped to a block size. This often a 256-byte block, but that’s not a hard requirement.
Btrfs typically maps 4 KiB of data to a 512-byte block, which is the conventional block size for Linux file systems. (Earlier versions of Linux did use a 512-byte block size for its default file system format, which is now legacy and not recommended.)
There are two widely-used variations of a hard block size. An earlier version of the FAT32 standard had an explicit 4-KiB block size, and this is still the case with some NTFS file systems. Other FAT32 file systems have a 4-byte “magic number” anywhere in the data area that signifies that the next 4 bytes is the data area. (Note that a useful 4-byte magic number is unlikely to be the same as the 4-KiB
