guardian of light is a third-person action game in the tomb raider series. tom hardy and camilla belle return as the protagonists, although not in the third-person’shoot’ point of view. rather, they will use a combination of mounted and on-foot exploration. the story missions explore the vast and varied environments of the game’s three worlds, the stone age, ancient egypt, and the far future of 40,000 bce in the new world of tolkiens middle earth.
crystal dynamics design director scot amos said of the game’s release: “we’ve been thinking a lot about this sort of game and what we really want in a tomb raider title. we get the chance to do what we want with the environment. we can really put tom and camilla into places where they can explore and put as many puzzles as we want into the game, and we can do that in whatever world we want. it’s really all about giving the players as much variety and exploration as possible. no other games are like that, and it just makes tomb raider so much more fun.”
